New face for the Rose
Bo'ness United players need to think big in tomorrow's second round East of Scotland Cup tie (Saturday) against Bonnyrigg Rose.
The squad needs to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Hill of Beath last weekend in a game that saw United reduced to nine men.
Strong performances could seal progression in the tournament AND book players a place in the team for next week's Scottish Junior Cup third round game.
But United's assistant coach Paul McKinlay is likely to be without three key players.
Gary Brown, Jon Tully and Mark Lukowiecki didn't feature against The Haws and are all doubtful for tomorrow.
McKinlay said: "They're aren't far away from returning but I don't think they'll be ready for Saturday.
"Hopefully they'll be available next week or the week after."
With Bonnyrigg sitting just above United, in third spot in the league, McKinlay anticipated a good match.
"They changed their manager at the start of the season and got a good victory against Camelon last week," he said.
Victory would help erase memories of United's performance last Saturday, where McKinlay admitted his team were outplayed.
He couldn't comment on Joe Dingwall's straight red card with players having blocked his view of the tackle.
"It wasn't meant to be a high tackle, he was going for the ball," said McKinlay.
He managed Camelon last season.
The Rose boss, however, would not be drawn on the speculation that McGonigal was set for a return to the club.
All he would say was: "Allan and I go back a long way in and with his departure from Berwick last week, people have put two and two together that we will link up again."
After last week's emphatic win over Lochee in the league it's back to cup business tomorrow when the Rose travel to Olivebank in Musselburgh to face Arniston Rangers in the East of Scotland Cup (ko 1.45pm.)
Fairley said: ''This is a big tournament and, despite playing a premier division side, we will not be fooled into a false sense of security for we expect it to be a tough match."
The club await the results of an MRI scan to Marc Graham while Aaron James and Sean Grady should be fit for tomorrow.
