Kids excel at Cross Country Championships

LONG distance running stars battled it out in Bo'ness in the Falkirk Primary and Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships.

Pupils from Blackness, Bo'ness Public, Grange, and St Mary's primaries sprinted off the blocks in the morning and pupils from Bo'ness Academy took to the track in the afternoon.

Active Schools co-ordinators Johnny Bannerman and Lisa Male organised the cross country event for the third year in a row and all winners will take part in a Forth Valley cross country event in March.

Johnny said: "The entries have increased year on year and this year we had 22 primary schools entering the championships.

"All eight secondary schools have entered the event since the start and we plan to run it next year and for the foreseeable future."

Results: Grange: P6 Girls Erin Meikle; P6 Boys Jack Stirling; P7 Boys Ryan Stevenson; Blackness: P6 Girls Alice Watt; Bo'ness Public: P6 Boys Callum Grant; P7 Girls Becky Grant; P7 Boys Jack Marsters; St Mary's: P6 Boys Connor Weir.
