Angling catch-rate up
Published Date:

THE catch-rate for this week on Linlithgow Loch, about 400 fish, was slightly higher than that for the comparable period of last year and the year before that - a reflection of the general trend of this year's satisfactory angling results.
Small buzzers, fished on a fine leader at near-surface levels, have been doing exceptionally well, especially during cloudy periods during daytime sessions.
The average fish weighs in at 2lbs, with larger specimens common, the biggest this week, obviously a grown-on overwintered, scaling just short of 6lbs.
And there were two reports of being broken by fish – witnessed because they jumped and showed themselves – larger than that.
The old problem: fish a fine leader and they'll take you; fish a fine leader and a big one may break you.
