A Bo’ness shop described as being in “a bit of a time warp” has been given permission to change its alcohol display area as part of a refurbishment.

Falkirk Council’s licensing board agreed that newsagents and convenience store Bo’ness Express, 26 Hillcrest, could make the changes requested.

Solicitor Gordon Emslie explained that the shop was under new ownership and was being modernised. His clients took over the property, which is leased from Falkirk Council, earlier this year.

“It was a very dated convenience store, lost in a bit of a time warp, to be fair, and required some major upgrades which have now taken place,” Mr Emslie said.

He said the slightly larger alcohol sales area was being requested “mainly because of the range of products that are available within a modern convenience store”.

The applicant withdrew an application for home delivery of alcohol along with food and will now only deliver food, using the Snappy Shopper app.

The changes were granted as applied for.
