New healthy eating fun at St Joseph's Primary, Linlithgow

Pupils at St Joseph's Primary can't wait for Fridays – and not just because it's the end of the week.

They're also looking forward to tucking in to their newest scheme to promote healthy eating and well being.

Students at the Linlithgow school have worked with health co-ordinator and principal teacher Lisa Reid to create a Healthy Tuck shop. It is set up on a Friday and offers a wide selection of fruity snacks.

The pupils and staff have named the healthy eating day as "Fruity Friday".

The pupils are enjoying the responsibility of organising this successful weekly event and having the opportunity to encourage their friends to eat healthily.

Head teacher Margaret Johns said: "It's great to see how excited and enthusiastic our pupils are about healthy eating."

Meanwhile, parents are in full support of the healthy tuck shop.

Helen Redican, the parent representative on the St Joseph's health and well-being group, works closely with pupils to ensure that Fruity Friday continues to be successful.

The group has devised an action plan to continue the promotion of health and well-being throughout the whole school community.
