Fears over Queensferry fumes

A PROMINENT businessman claims Transport Scotland's decision to circle the town with motorways could prove costly to the Scottish Government in years to come.

Architect Douglas Flett, chairman of the Queensferry Business Association, said the new road layout for the Forth Replacement Crossing could prove to be an "invisible killer"

Mr Flett said: "Transport Scotland's decision to wrap a road around Queensferry, instead of a direct route to the M9, is adding four miles to the journey for hundreds of thousands of vehicles every year.

''While not a very green decision, more importantly it will condemn families in Queensferry to years of health problems due to exhaust fumes."

But the people behind the bridge say it is well within safe limits.
