Cyber schools my be introduced in West Lothian
PROPOSALS to make cuts across the education sector including chopping free fruit and bread were discussed last week.
The Education Policy Development and Scrutiny Panels (PDSPs), part of the council's Tough Choices consultation, discussed officer-led suggestions to save money over the next three years.
Cost saving measures include a 17 per cent reduction in the number of pupil support assistants by redesigning the service. Officers stated that staff and trade unions would be consulted and stressed that children with additional support needs would not be affected.
Other considerations included an increase in teaching time for promoted staff in primary schools, removal of free fruit and bread, and an increase in milk charges.
