Beautiful Scotland trophies at Burgh Halls

TROPHIES won for Linlithgow last year from Beautiful Scotland are now on display in Linlithgow Burgh Halls.

History was made last autumn when Burgh Beautiful was presented with two silver trophies and four framed certificates from Beautiful Scotland in recognition of Linlithgow’s floral displays and environmental activities. It was also the first time ever that any community in West Lothian has won the organisation’s premier award, the Rosebowl.

Ron Smith, chairman of Burgh Beautiful, said: “It’s great to see the rewards for everybody’s efforts so well displayed. We’ll try to ensure that, when the Britain in Bloom judges visit the town this summer, they get the chance to view the trophies and how they’re displayed.”

Another silver cup was awarded for Linlithgow being the best of any medium-sized town in Scotland, there was a Gold Award certificate, and one for ‘Special Endeavour’, recognising the outstanding community gardening efforts of Eileen Murray, Audrey Simpson, Peter Common and helpers at the Water Yett and West Port flats.
