Laura McFarlane, 39, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday having pleaded guilty to possessing class A drug heroin at Forth Valley Royal Hospital on July 18, 2020.

The court heard Staff at FVRH noticed something was wrong with McFarlane when her respiratory rate dropped and suspected she may be under the influence of something.

Twenty minutes later she was unresponsive and her pupils were dilated. Looking in her bag to try and find out what she may have taken, so they could treat her more effectively, medical staff found a small bag of powder.

There was one gram of heroin worth a street value of £30.

Sheriff Craig Harris deferred sentence on McFarlane, 21 Inchyra Place, Grangemouth, until March 30, 2023 for a criminal justice social work report and restriction of liberty order assessment to be carried out.

McFarlane was told to make progress with her existing community payback order.
