Police have revealed they will be carrying out extra patrols in Falkirk town centre this weekend to deal with youth disorder.

Local officers will be patrolling to deter anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to local residents.

Inspector Andy Tough said, “We are aware of reports of groups of youths causing disorder in Falkirk town centre in the evenings. We have put additional patrols in place to engage with those responsible and deal robustly with any anti-social behaviour.

"Whilst the majority of people visiting the town centre are well-behaved, a small minority continue to be disruptive to the local community.”

Last year, business owners in East Bridge Street and Callendar Riggs reported incidents with youths congregating outside their properties, near to the former bus station. There were also incidents where windows of premises were smashed.

At that time police launched their Safer Falkirk Streets initiative to reassure those living and working in the area.
