CENTRAL Scotland's brand new comedy festival, Funny in Falkirk, is well underway, and this weekend the laughter comes to Bo'ness Town Hall.
On Saturday, July 31, a Best of Scottish Comedy show (8pm) combines the talents of compere Jojo Sutherland, Bruce Fummey, Billy Kirkwood and Bruce Morton.

And Sunday Night Stand Up! the following night, August 1 (8pm), will see compere Bruce Devl
in plus Raymond Mearns, Anthony Murray and Lucy Oldham entertaining the Bo'ness crowd.

Tickets for Saturday's Best of Comedy are on sale now at £8/£7, and for Sunday Night Stand Up! are priced £7/£6.

These can be bought in advance from the Inkspot and Silverleaf Booksellers in South Street, Bo'ness, online at www.funnyinfalkirk.com or by calling 0844 395 4005.

Full details of the festival programme – that runs in Falkirk district until August 3 – are available online.

Funny in Falkirk has been planned by the Scottish Comedy Agency, the team behind the Glasgow International Comedy Festival.

Commissioning all the action is the Falkirk Business Improvement District in partnership with Falkirk Council.

Councillor Adrian Mahoney, leisure convener, said the local authority was pleased to be supporting Funny in Falkirk.

"The idea came from the team at the Falkirk BID.

"We were keen to support it - but also to spread the festival to venues in all the main district towns across the council area.

"With the support of local businesses, we've been able to do just that and is great to see this new event get underway."

He added: "The organisers have done very well to get the festival off the ground so quickly and we look forward to it developing into a major event on the Scots comedy circuit."

For younger comedy fans, aged 4-8, there's a free Tiny Tales show tomorrow, Friday, July 30, at McDonald's on Falkirk High Street from 9-10am with Bruce Henderson of Bo'ness.

There'll be puppets, jokes, card tricks and stories – bring your best joke and imagination and help to create a wee story or two.

As well as performing, Bruce was also responsible for bringing the comedy festival plan into being, developing the idea and the partners on behalf of the Falkirk BID.
