THIS smiling class from Kinneil Primary School, taken in 1969, will be marking their 50th birthdays this year.
Mari-Anne Snedden (nee Walinck), front row third from the right, handed in this photo. At the time she lived in Steel Bungalow, Dean Road, but now lives in Philpingstone Road, Bo'ness.

60 years ago
from our files of 7 October 1949• The latest Arts Council event "Spanish Serenade" took place on Monday night at the Bo'ness Town Hall. Spaniard Pepita Sarazena was thrilled by the traditional Highland Dancing and the rest of the large audience thoroughly enjoyed the event.
• The final League and Spoon Race was held last Saturday in Queensferry, where conditions became increasingly bad at the Firth, as the wind built up. The winning boat was 'Irene,' with 16 points.
• The annual festival of music provided by St. Michael's was held on Sunday afternoon in Linlithgow with the largest attendance the event has ever seen.
• It was discovered that the Linlithgow Marches fund is sitting at a mere £25. A meeting about how to make the Marches a success, with this small amount of money, will take place on Monday night.
• Last Saturday Bo'ness United played Thorntree United in the first round of the East of Scotland Cup at Port Seton. The atmosphere was tense as the Bo'ness side fought frantically to escape defeat but unfortunately they did not succeed, going down 2-1 to Thorntree.

40 years ago

from our files of 10 October 1969• Linlithgow's first lady Conservative councillor took her place at a council meeting on Tuesday night. The new addition means that there are now three women on the council.
• David Fergus, who lives in the West Port Flats, Linlithgow took part in a TV quiz show called "Brain of Britain" on Friday. Unfortunately, he got pipped at the post and his opponent won 15-14. David led for most of the game, but he lost due to the last two questions.
• Two 23-year-old men were fined £5 after being found guilty of climbing the Forth Road Bridge on July 14.
• On Sunday Bo'ness Old Kirk's new youth programme got off to a great start as a total of 50 youngsters attended the opening 'Folk night.' This Saturday, will be the first of it's weekly disc dances for younger teenagers.
• Powerful team New Blackburn were crushed by Linlithgow Rose and missed out on the chance of proceeding to the third round of the R.L Rae Cup. In the latter stages of the game, Blackburn attacked with great vigour but this was not enough. The end result was Linlithgow Rose 3, New Blackburn 1.
