Peep at the Past

THE cat in this week's vintage photo looks quite comfortable atop the tricycle, watched by three youngsters in Dock Street, Bo'ness.

It was submitted by the town's Maria Ford who found it in a box of family photographs. It is believed to date from the 1920s.

The children are thought to be from the Meikle family, neighbours of Maria's late grandparents Guiseppe — known as 'Wee Joe'

— Cassettari and his wife Alice McCulloch.

'Wee Joe', originally from Tuscany, sold ice cream across Bo'ness from his barrow and Maria's late mum Dorina was born in Dock Street in 1932.

The Cassettari's then moved up to the Deanfield area when it was built in the 1930s.

If any of the Meikle children's relatives recognise them, contact us and we'll put you in touch with Maria, who'll supply a copy of the photo.
